A striped Kyusu from Tokoname for precisely brewed Japanese tea

This Kyusu combines Japanese restraint and clear functionality. The side-handle pot comes from Tokoname in Aichi Prefecture and features a reddish-brown natural glaze with a tactile striped texture.

With a capacity of 270 ml, it is perfect for Sencha, Gyokuro, and Kabusecha. The side handle allows for controlled pouring from the wrist, while the fixed stainless steel round sieve retains leaf particles.

The clay from Tokoname is described in ancient texts as iron-rich and associated with tannins and umami. This creates a calm backdrop for Japanese leaf teas in the cup, without the pot overshadowing the tea.
